During its Valentine Invitational meet held on Feb. 10th and 11th at the BU Track and Tennis Center, the BU track and field team held a fundraiser and helped raise awareness for the Lupus Foundation of America. BU student-athletes distributed information on the disease and passed around a bucket for donation from those in attendance.

Lupus hits close to home for director of track and field Robyne Johnson, who lost her mother to the disease. "So many people have Lupus and don't even know it," said Johnson. "We hope that by spreading awareness about the disease, some people may get tested and we can save a life." The foundation, whose slogan is "Someone you know has Lupus", says that an estimated 1.5 million American have the disease.
