PRINCETON, N.J. - The Boston University women's outdoor track and field team came in 13th at the ECAC Championship over the weekend at Princeton's Weaver Stadium, headlined by top-10 finishes by senior Tahari James and sophomore Whitney Ford in both the long jump and triple jump. Sophomore Eric Ashe took third in the 3000m steeplechase, as the men's team placed 30th at the IC4A Championship, also held in Princeton.

James qualified for NCAA Regionals in both the long jump (6.19m, 2) and triple jump (12.64m, 5), while Ford took third in the long jump with a 6.16m distance and eighth in the triple jump (12.31m).

Senior Kat Warden also ran a qualifying time, entering a 2:09.4 mark in the 800m for third place. Sophomore Erin Lagasse took sixth in the 10,000m with a 36:18.75 time, while classmate Casey Jordan (1:02.45) and junior Rebecca Marshburn (1:04.52) took 13th and 22nd in the 400m hurdles, respectively. The Terriers' 4x100m relay team finished 11th with a 42.12 time.

Connecticut won the ECAC Championship with 83 points, while BU registered 28 points to come in 13th in the 46-team field.

On the men's side, Ashe's 8:59.38 time in the 3000m steeplechase clinched third, while senior David Proctor earned a spot at NCAA Regionals with a 3:46.61 time in the 1500m qualifying round, while classmate Jake Laroe placed 11th in the event with a 3:48.28 mark.

 

 

Junior Jan Bicanic took seventh in the discus with a 50.92m throw and first-year Dan Withrow finished one spot behind with a 49.75m mark. Freshman Rich Haigh was 16th in the decathlon, collecting 6084 points.

Liberty came in first at the IC4A Championship, totaling 62 points, while the Terriers earned nine points to take the 30th spot out of 45 teams.

The team will take a week off before sending representatives to the NCAA Regionals in Tallahassee, Fla., on May 30th and 31st.
