Senior David Proctor qualified for the NCAA Regionals

AMHERST, Mass. - Sophomore Joel Senick won the 400m dash as the Boston University men's outdoor track and field team tied for 11th place on the final day of the New England Championship on Saturday at the UMass Track and Field Complex. Senior David Proctor qualified for NCAA Regionals, leading a group of three Terriers that scored in the 800m run, and junior Jan Bicanic was third in the discus throw.

The Terriers tallied a total of 27 points to tie for 11th with Wheaton and Williams. Rhode Island won the meet with 103 points, holding off host Massachusetts, who tallied 80 points.

Senick was crowned New England champion in the 400m dash with a time of 47.78.

Proctor was the runner-up in the 800m run, clocking a time of 1:50.09 to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Classmate Chadd Steinhauser was seventh in the event with a time of 1:52.32 and junior Jeff Moreau was next to cross in 1:52.61.

Bicanic recorded a toss of 47.68m in the discus throw, good for third place in the meet.

The Terriers are back in action next weekend, competing at the IC4A Championship from Friday (May 15) through Sunday (May 17) in Princeton, N.J.
