Page Paces Terriers to Third-Place Finish at America East Championship

BANGOR, Maine – Junior R.J. Page was named Most Oustanding Track Performer for the second straight year as he helped pace the Boston University men’s track & field team to a third-place finish at the America East Championships.

The Terriers scored 145.50 points, narrowly edged for second place by Binghamton (147). Albany defended its America East title with a score of 181 points.

Page broke his own America East record in the 100m dash, as he defended his title with a time of 10.52 seconds. He also defended his 200m dash crown, as he crossed the finish line first with a time of 21.21 seconds. The Swedesboro, N.J., native earned the Coaches’ Award for the second straight year after he collected more points than any other male competitor over the course of the two-day meet.

The Terriers swept the top three spots of the 200m dash, with senior Tewado Latty finishing second (21.47) and senior Joel Senick coming in third (21.52). Latty and Senick were also fantastic in the 400m dash, as the duo finished first and second, respectively. Latty defended his 400m dash title with a time of 47.19 seconds, while Senick was second across the line with a time of 47.84 seconds.

Sophomore Rich Peters claimed first place in the 1500m run with a time of 3:45.69, while senior Matt Paulson earned a victory in the 5000m run (14:39.55). Senior Elliot Lehane also earned a point in the 5000m run (14:56.64).


 

 

Junior Stephen Vitale was first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.69 seconds. He also fared well in the 110m hurdles, as he placed fourth with a time of 14.84 seconds. Vitale, Latty, page and Senick continued their strong season in the 4x400m relay, as the quartet finished first with a time of 3:12.76.

Freshman Ethan Knight finished fifth in the discus (46.44m) and seventh in the shot put (14.68m) to earn points for BU, while sophomore Pavan Mehat placed seventh in the triple jump (13.48m). The 4x800m relay team of David Krinjak, Stuart Ross, Joe Greenspun and Balint Horvath had a third-place time of 7:39.85.

BU will be back in action next weekend as the Terriers will send athletes to the IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J., and the New England Championships in Cambridge, Mass.
