BOSTON - Senior David Proctor provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the mile run to highlight the Boston University men's indoor track and field team action on Saturday at the Terrier Invitational at the BU Track and Tennis Center. Senior Chadd Steinhauser posted an IC4A qualifying mark in the 500-meter dash.

Proctor ran a 4:00.26 mile, finishing second to Brad Miller of Syracuse and provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Steinhauser, who already has an IC4A qualifying time in the 800m run this season, ran a 1:04.96 to finish 11th in the 500m dash. In the other sprints, junior Max Esposito was the top Terrier in the 400m dash, crossing in 49.69 to finish 19th. Freshman Matt Pereira finished 31st in the 200m dash with a 22.67 and classmate R.J. Page ran a 6.59 in the 55m dash in his collegiate debut.

Senior Jason Nardella was BU's lone entrant in the 55m hurdles, where he posted an 8.59 to finish 28th.

The Terriers' 4x400m relay squad of Esposito, junior Mark Mazzochette, freshman Tewado Latty and Steinhauser finished ninth with a 3:20.58, the top time by a BU relay team this season.

In the field, senior Kodjo Wilder leaped 6.52m to place 11th in the long jump and junior Mac-Alen Gerard was ninth in the triple jump at 13.45m. Sophomore Dan Withrow finished seventh in the shot put, throwing 15.19m, and 29th in the weight throw with a 13.37m toss. Junior Jordan Cumper and freshman Justin Maes tied for 16th in the pole vault, each clearing 3.90m.

 

 

The Terriers are back in action on Feb. 7 when Harvard hosts the Battle of Beantown in Allston.
