Terriers fall to UMass/Amhearst
The Terrier men's tennis team fell to the University of Massachusetts/Amhearst, 5-2, yesterday (October 2) despite comeback wins from sophomore Geoffrey Wagner (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and junior John Mofsky (Miami, Florida). At the second-seed, Wagner came back from losing the first set, 0-6, to win the next two sets, 7-5, 6-3. The number-five seed in BU's season-opening win over UNH, Wagner defeated the Minutemen's Todd Champeau for his second win this season. Mofsky defeated Reid Stubbs, 6-7, 7-5, 7-6, in the fourth-seed match-up. Senior Josh Holbrock (New Haven, CT) lost in straight sets to Steve Prisco in the number-one position, 6-1, 6-1. Junior JP Debbink (Oconomowoc, WI) fell to third-seed Scott Sans Leeb, 6-0, 6-2, while junior Noel Moossa (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) lost to sixth-seed Phillip Roderigues, 6-4, 6-4. The Terriers were swept in doubles play, losing all three matches. The number-one team of Adam Siegel (Sudbury, MA) and Wagner fell to Prisco and Sans Leeb, 8-2. Moosa and Mofsky lost in the second-seed to Champeau and Reblin, 8-1, while at the number-three spot, Stubbs and Rodrigues lost, 8-4, to Vinoles and Holbrock. The Terriers, who are 1-1 this fall, and will return to action at the Connecticut Invitational on October 12th.
