Wolf Captures B Flight Consolation Title At Harvard Invitational

BOSTON - Boston University freshman Barrett Wolf (Boca Raton, Fla. / Spanish River) won the B Flight Singles Consolation Title at the Sixth-Annual Harvard Fall Invitational Championship, held Sept. 19-21 at the Crimson's Beren Tennis Center. Wolf claimed the title after Rutgers' Bert Baggio withdrew before the final match.

For the second time in as many competitions this fall, Wolf was the only Terrier to emerge victorious or advance past the first round of competition. After dropping his B Flight main draw match to Tufts' Rifat Perahya, 1-6, 1-6, Wolf advanced past Tufts' Adam Yates in the consolation draw after Yates retired in the third set. Wolf had split the first two sets with Yates, 2-6, 6-4, before Yates dropped out.

Senior Geoffrey Wagner (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Lasher) was the Terriers' A Flight singles entry. He fell to Harvard's fifth-seeded Mark Riddell, 2-6, 1-6, and to Brown's Kris Goddard, 6-2, 2-6, 5-7, in a tight match in the consolation.

B. U. sophomore Abbie Behar (San Diego, Calif. / Bonita Vista) and junior Manuel Bulauitan (Manhosset, N. Y. / Paul D. Schreiber) competed in B Flight singles, each going winless in their matches.

Wagner and senior Adam Siegel (Sudbury, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury) dropped their first-round doubles match to the Harvard pair of Gideon Vaklin and Jack Li, 2-8. Wolf and senior Topher Bertone-Ledford (Goshen, N. Y. / Goshen) paired up and lost their doubles match, 0-8, to Brown's Jamie Cerratani and Adil Shamasdin, the top-seeded doubles team. Both Terrier doubles teams lost its consolation matches.

The Terriers (0-1) next compete at the Brown University Invitational on Sept. 26-28.
