Senior Jacob Glaser has been selected First Team GTE/CoSIDA District 1 Academic All-America. Glaser, who comes from Beaverton, Oregon and played number two singles and doubles for the Terrier men's tennis team, was one of 10 student-athletes from the New England/New York area named to the Spring At-Large Team.
On the tennis court this past season, he compiled an 8-12 record for the Terriers, who advanced to the finals of the America East tournament before losing to Hofstra.
In the championship match against the Flying Dutchmen, Glaser lost his singles match, but came back to win at number one doubles along with teammate Josh Holbrook. The title earned the pair a spot on the All-Conference team. Glaser enjoyed excellent success in doubles during the year, as he finished with a 6-3 record, including a five-match winning streak.
During his career, he compiled an overall singles record of 24-30. As a freshman, he played on the B.U. team that won the America East tournament title, while the team finished second the last three years.
In the classroom, Glaser had a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in biology and minoring in religion and graduated last Sunday magna cum laude. He achieved Dean's List status in five semesters, was on the NCAA All-Academic team and was on the Conference All-Academic team.
Glaser was in Golden Key Honor Society, in the pre-med. honor society, and was a student-athlete mentor.
His other extracurricular activities have included volunteering in a hospital emergency room in his hometown of Beaverton, travelling to Ecuador during the spring semester of 1998 on a tropical ecology exchange, and teaching tennis to youngsters at a local club last summer.
