Men's Tennis Defeats UNH, 5-1; Advances to America East Semifinal

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Behind strong play throughout the singles lineup, the Boston University men's tennis team posted a 5-1 victory over New Hampshire in the first round of the America East Championships on Friday afternoon at the Connecticut Tennis Center. With the win, the Terriers advance to the semifinal round, where they will take on top-seeded Stony Brook on Saturday at 11 a.m.

After dropping two of the three doubles matches by the same score of 8-5, the Terriers rebounded with a perfect showing in singles play, claiming five straight-set wins.

Sophomore Jared Kobren posted a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot over Marty Morrissey and freshman Miron Nissim defeated Brady Bartlett, 7-5, 6-3 at third singles. At the No. 4 spot, junior Ross Lohr easily handled Tim Clement by a score of 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 5, sophomore Giulio Gallarotti outplayed Brett Teolis by a 6-3, 6-1 margin. Freshman Tim Sichler was victorious in the sixth singles match-up and junior Barrett Wolf was leading his match in the third set at No. 1 singles when the team score was decided.
