Waltham, MA-The Boston University men's tennis team lost its regular-season finale, 4-3, at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA on Wednesday, April 21.

The match was an up-and-down affair with the Terriers winning the top three singles slots and the Judges winning numbers four through six.

Senior Jacob Glaser (Beaverton, OR), playing at number one singles for the first time all season, won his match with Leo Fuchs in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Josh Holbrook (New Haven, CT), a regular at number five singles most of the season, was moved up to number two singles. He defeated Matt Solomon, 7-6, 6-2. Also moving up from his number six spot to number three was senior Ben Sturner (Millersville, MD). Sturner earned B.U.'s third win of the day, downing Howie Goldsmith, 7-5, 6-3.

Brandeis won the next three singles matches. Austin Mallis outlasted junior Dean Meelarp (Bloomfield, NJ), 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at number four, Zach Bennett downed freshman John Koetzle (Dix Hills, NY), 3-6, 2-6 at number five, and Herb Miller scored at number six, with a 7-6, 6-1 win over freshman Alex Naar (Miami, FL).

The Terriers regained the lead as Glaser and Holbrook teamed to defeat Fuchs and Goldstein, 8-2.

The Judges sealed the match with wins at number two and three doubles. Solomon and Mallis defeated Meelarp and Koetzle, 8-4, and Bennett and Miller won the final match of the day at number three doubles, 8-5, against Naar and Sturner.

The Terriers record falls to 5-10 on the spring and 6-14 overall for the 98-99 campaign.
