In a match where the final score belied the competitiveness of the contest, the Boston University men's tennis team fell to Boston College, 7-0 on April 24.
While the Terriers failed to win a match, they put forth a strong effort, leading in each of the doubles matches, before bowing in the end.
The first doubles team of sophomores Geoff Wagner (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and Adam Siegel (Sudbury, MA) fell 8-5 while the second and third doubles teams each lost by 8-6 scores.
At second singles, junior John Paul Debbink (Oconomowoc, WI) fell to Brad Anderson in a hard-fought contest, 6-4 6-3.
The loss gave the Terriers a split on the weekend after a 4-3 win at Quinnipiac on Saturday, March 23.
After the match, head coach Jeremy Taylor only had compliments for his team. "They played with all their hearts and with lots of intensity. It's difficult to keep your head up after a loss like this, but I don't care about the score, I am very proud of the way we played today."
B.U. returns to action on Thursday, April 4 at Rhode Island. Matches are scheduled to begin at 3 pm.
