Men's Swimming and Diving Defeat New Hampshire, 178-107



DURHAM, NH - Behind the first-place finishes of senior Chris Collins, sophomore James Lands, junior Michael Kelly, senior Victor Paguia, sophomore Michael Bear and a sweep in the 200-yard backstroke, the men's swimming and diving team improved to 1-1 over the weekend by defeating New Hampshire 178-107 on the road.

The Terriers started off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the "B" team coming in first with a time of 1:41.66. Collins (Phoenix, AZ) led off the team with sophomore Griffin Moodie (Edina, MN), Kelly (Shrewsbury, NJ) and senior David Brown (Fallbrook, CA) making up the rest of the team. The "A" team finished second with a time of 1:47.90 with Lands (Montclair, NJ) leading off and junior Ryan Falk (Sarasota, FL), Nick Paul, and Gordon Allan swimming after him.

Collins took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.27, with Bear (Arlington, VA) trailing right behind him with a time of 1:00.11.

In the 100-yard breaststroke the Terriers went 2-3-4, with Moodie the first of the Terriers to finish with a time of 1:00.86 with Adam Motowidlo (Bristol, CT) in second with a time of 1:04.99 and right behind him was Falk with a 1:05.15 time.

Lands and Allan took the top two honors in the 200-yard butterfly with times of 2:17.86 and 2:26.19, respectively, while Lands and junior Michael McGrath (Pittsburgh, PA) went 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 57.02 and 58.24.

Kelly took the first place spot in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.29, while Paguia (Lake Forest, IL) placed first in the one-meter diving competition with 313.95 points. Paguia again took first in the three-meter diving competition with 336.50 points.

Bear, Brown, and Collins swept the top three spots in the 200-yard backstroke each coming in with times of 2:05.37, 2:06.26 and 2:07.08 respectively.

In the final competition of the day, the BU "B" team finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay race with Collins leading off and Brown, Paul and Kelly coming after.
