BOSTON – From Feb. 8-11 the Boston University swimming and diving program will host the 2007 America East swimming and diving championship at BU’s Competition Pool in the Fitness and Recreation Center. It is the second consecutive year the Terriers have held the conference championship in the Aquatics Center.

The men’s team finished off the dual-meet season with an impressive win over cross-town rival Boston College. In that victory, BU got crucial wins from James Lands, Ben Kaiser and Griffin Moodie, along with Arik Seiler’s lifetime best in the 200 IM.

The Terriers also had a strong showing against cross-state foe, Holy Cross on Jan. 16, when the men’s squad defeated the Crusaders, 136-87. In that meet, Brian Lawler won both the one- and three-meter diving events, and the Terriers won 12-of-13 events.

Lawler has dominated both boards all season, winning all but one event throughout the course of the year. He is undefeated in the three-meter, entering into the America East championships. The sophomore has earned three America East Diver of the Week awards, including two consecutive to end the dual-meet season. Last season, he won the America East Championship at three-meters with a score of 538.55.

During the week of Dec. 12, the Terriers swept the conference awards, as freshman Arik Seiler and Lawler earned the weekly accolades for the men’s squad.
