Lawler Earns Second America East Diver of the Week Honors

BOSTON – Brian Lawler has earned America East Diver of the Week accolades, as announced by the conference office today. It is the second weekly honor for the sophomore diver this season, as he has dominated both the one- and three-meter boards.

Over the weekend, Lawler defeated Syracuse’s Patrick White and Jeremy Thornton in the 1-meter with 299.63 points - nearly 43 points above his closest competitor. The native of San Luis Obispo, Calif., then claimed his second victory of the day with 339.30 in the three-meter.

Against Holy Cross on Jan. 16, he won both boards with 193.05 points (one-meter) and 365.55 (three-meter), respectively.

Lawler has won all but one event this year and holds numerous BU school marks. He established the school record in the one-meter (12 dives) with 580.35 points, along with the 3-meter at 6 and 12 dives, respectively. Last season, he won the America East Championship at three-meters with a score of 538.55.

The Terriers take on cross-town rival Boston College on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at BU’s Competition Pool, and will host the America East Championships from Feb. 8-11.
