BOSTON - Boston University set a new soccer attendance record on Sunday night when 5,935 fans packed Nickerson Field to watch the Terriers take on No. 13 Massachusetts. It was the largest crowd ever to take in a regular-season college soccer game at BU and in the state of Massachusetts.

Soccer America reported that Sunday's crowd was also the second-largest in men's college soccer so far this season, being edged only by a crowd of 6,102 that took in the Clemson at South Carolina game on Friday.

The Terriers' home opener was preceded by the second annual Terrier Tailgate pre-game barbeque and included the presentation of the America East Commissioner's Cup to BU for the strongest overall athletic program in 2007-08. Sunday's game beat last season's crowd of 5,111 for the home opener.

After two games on the road, the Terriers will return to Nickerson Field on Sunday, Sept. 14, to face Rhode Island at 4:30 p.m. Live streaming video is available for all home games through BU All-Access on GoTerriers.com.
