Junior Aaron O'Neal was named the 2009 Most Valuable Player for the men's soccer team after a standout season on the Terriers' frontline that was highlighted by three multiple-goal performances and three wins over Big East squads, including then-No. 1 St. John's and No. 12 Connecticut.

After earning AE Rookie of the Year honors in 2007 due to tallying 16 points off six goals and four assists, O'Neal had his best regular season yet as a junior. Starting the year by assisting on the game-tying goal against Massachusetts (9/1), he would then score two goals each against then-No. 12 UConn (9/5) and Providence (9/7) before recording another two-goal performance against Rhode Island (9/26).

During league play, he scored a goal in three consecutive games and ended the regular season with another at Albany (10/31). His 11 goals and 25 points are the most by a Terrier since Joachim Kaland had 19 and 44, respectively, in 2001.
