BOSTON - After earning victories over Boston College and UMass-Lowell, the Boston University men's soccer team continued its strong play during the spring exhibition season with wins over fellow 2008 NCAA tournament participant Harvard and Division III Elite Eight member Babson College. The Terriers defeated the Crimson, 2-1, and then using a different lineup, beat the Beavers, 2-0, as part of a double-header on April 10.

Early during the first half at the 15-minute mark, rising sophomore Ben Berube beat a Harvard defender during a 1-on-1 battle and crossed the ball to rising senior Samuel Appiah, who fired it into the back of the net for the first score.

About 20 minutes later, Berube notched another assist as he played a deep shot that hit the crossbar, allowing teammate Michael Bustamante to finish the rebound from 10-yards out for the second score.

In the second contest against Babson, rising senior Tom Strackhouse served a cross from the left side to red-shirt freshman Peter Mehlert, who knocked a one-time volleyball from 10-yards out for his second score of the spring.

Similar to the second goal against Harvard, rising sophomore Terence Ciavarra rifled a 35-yard shot that rebounded inside the six-yard box for Nicolas Ampuero to knock into the goal for another score.

In four games, the Terriers have outscored opponents, 7-2. BU will continue spring action this weekend with Brandeis and a to be determined opponent.
