Led by second-year head coach Joe Jones, the Boston University men’s basketball team enters the 2012-13 season seeking its third postseason berth in the last four years. The Terriers return three starters, including Preseason All-Conference honoree D.J. Irving who led the league last season in assists at 5.4 apg.

Led by ninth-year head coach Kelly Greenberg, the Boston University women’s basketball team returns 10 letterwinners, including three starters from last year’s 23-9 squad that advanced to the first round of the WNIT. The Terriers will host a combined six non-conference opponents in November and December.

New Conference Affiliation
This past summer, Boston University formally accepted an invitation to move 20 of its 25 teams to the Patriot League on July 1, 2013 for the 2013-14 season. Formed as an all-sport conference in 1990-91, the league features American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy .

Maguire Tabbed HE Rookie of the Week; BU Moves up to Ninth in Polls

After earning a shutout in his first home start, freshman goaltender Sean Maguire has been named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. BU moved up one spot to ninth in both national polls in advance of this weekend's home-and-home series with archrival and top-ranked Boston College. Both games will be televised live by the NBC Sports Network. Maguire stopped all 21 shots he faced to lead the Terriers to a 4-0 victory against St. Lawrence on Saturday at Agganis. He became the first BU goaltender in 12 years to record a shutout in his first home start, as Sean Fields achieved the feat back in 2000.
Maguire has won his past two starts and now boasts a 2.56 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. He is the third Terrier to earn league Rookie of the Week honors this season, joining Matt Grzelcyk and Matt O'Connor.
