Men’s Basketball
Led by second-year head coach Joe Jones, the Boston University men’s basketball team enters the 2012-13 season seeking its third postseason berth in the last four years. The Terriers return three starters, including Preseason All-Conference honoree D.J. Irving who led the league last season in assists at 5.4 apg.

Led by ninth-year head coach Kelly Greenberg, the Boston University women’s basketball team returns 10 letterwinners, including three starters from last year’s 23-9 squad that advanced to the first round of the WNIT. The Terriers will host a combined six non-conference opponents in November and December.

New Conference Affiliation
This past summer, Boston University formally accepted an invitation to move 20 of its 25 teams to the Patriot League on July 1, 2013 for the 2013-14 season. Formed as an all-sport conference in 1990-91, the league features American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy .

BU Ranked 13th in Both National Preseason Polls, Third in HE Poll

BOSTON - Preseason prognostications are nearly complete, as the Boston University men's ice hockey team was picked 13th in both national preseason polls and came in third in the annual Hockey East preseason coaches' poll. The first USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll of the year had the Terriers in 13th, right above Ferris State and right below Minnesota-Duluth. In the USCHO.com poll, the Terriers were also one spot below Duluth, but Notre Dame came in 14th. In the Hockey East poll, BU gathered 73 points, just one short of second-place UMass Lowell. The Terriers and River Hawks tied for second in last year's regular-season standings. Defending champion Boston College was a unanimous pick for the No. 1 spot. In addition, junior defenseman Garrett Noonan was named to the Preseason All-CHN First Team. Last year, Noonan tied for first in the nation amongst blueliners in goals with 16. BU returns 14 letter winners from last year's team, which posted a record of 23-15-1 and reached the NCAA tournament for the 32nd time in program history.
