The Terrier varsity hockey team will play a group of former Terriers either playing now, or have played in the NHL, in a benefit exhibition game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24th at Brown Arena.
Among the former Terriers who are current NHL players who are expected to play are Chris Drury, Shawn McEachern, Tom Poti, Mike Grier, Rick DiPietro, Keith Tkachuk, Jay Pandolfo, Shawn Bates, Dan LaCouture, Adrian Aucoin, Scott Lachance, and Scott Young.
Former Terriers, who did play in the NHL but have since retired and are expected to play against the 2004-05 varsity are Joe Sacco and Doug Friedman.
The varsity will have already played four games by the time they face off against the alumni, as the Terriers open their season on Friday October 8 when they meet Miami University on the opening day of the Lefty McFadden Invitational Tournament in Dayton, OH. Faceoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Then, on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., the Terriers will meet the University of Michigan.
The Terriers will then return home to meet the University of Vermont at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16th. The following Friday, October 22nd, at 7:00 p.m., the Terriers will open their Hockey East schedule at home against Providence College.
Then, two days later, on October 24th, the varsity will meet the alumni.
Tickets for the game will be $22.00 with all proceeds going to the Travis Roy and Mark Bavis Foundations.
