After scoring 14 points and earning Beanpot MVP honors in an undefeated month for the top-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team, sophomore forward Nick Bonino has been named the Reebok Hockey East Player of the Month for February, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Bonino tallied six goals and eight assists in nine games, helping the team post a record of 6-0-3 in the month. He scored at least one point in eight of the nine contests and had five multiple-point efforts.
The centerman, who also turned in a rating of plus-9 in the month, was named Beanpot MVP after scoring three goals in the two games and helping the Terriers win the tournament title for the 29th time.
Bonino capped his month by matching his career highs in goals (2) and points (3) in a 7-2 home triumph over UMass on Feb. 28.
For the season, Bonino ranks second on the Terriers in points with 37 on 13 goals and 24 assists. He has a team-high plus-19 rating, which ranks second among Hockey East players.
