After reaching the Grand Final at both the IRAs and the Eastern Sprints last season, the 2008-09 Boston University men's crew varsity eight boat was announced this week as a finalist for Row2K.com's annual Crew of the Year poll. Fans are encouraged to vote here.

Receiving the Clayton Chapman Award for the most improved team in the country, the Terriers had a standout season under first-year head coach Thomas Bohrer. Besides stunning then-No. 2 Brown on May 27 for their first Michalson Cup victory in 22 years, BU overtook rival Wisconsin in thrilling fashion during the semifinals at the IRAs a week later to land the final spot for the Grand Final.

The Badgers led by about 1.5 seconds with just 500 meters remaining, but BU used everything left in the tank, a move website Row2K labeled similar to a "Hail Mary" in football, to overtake the Badgers and advance to the Grand Final.

Listed below is the lineup from the IRAs.

Lineup: Cox - Bianca Wieczorek, Stroke - Meindert Klem, 7 - Milos Drljic, 6 - Josh Novak, 5 - Justin Martin, 4 - Nemanja Bekan, 3 - Sebastian Muller, 2 - Harrison Macris, Bow - Nick Anderson
