CAMDEN, N.J. - Sending four boats to the 110th IRA National Championship Regatta, the No. 10 Boston University men's crew will compete against 17 other schools for the national championship over a three-day period beginning Thursday (May 31) on the Cooper River. Last year, the Terriers placed tied-for-eighth behind a Grand Final appearance by the freshman eight boat.
In head coach Thomas Bohrer's first year at the helm in 2009, BU took seventh and received the Clayton Chapman Award for being the most improved team in the country. The Terriers followed the performance by winning the Petite Final in both the V8 and F8 during the 2010 regatta.

Competition will begin on Thursday with the V8 heats at 8:30 a.m. The top two finishers will advance to Friday's semifinals, while the others will have to compete in a repechage later in the afternoon.
Seeded ninth, BU's V8 boat will race No. 3 Harvard, No. 4 California, No. 10 Stanford, No. 15 Dartmouth and No. 16 George Washington. The Terriers had an uneven season, finishing with two cup victories out of four events. During the Eastern Sprints, they missed out on the Grand Finals by 0.27 seconds but rebounded with a resounding Petite Final victory over No. 11 Yale, No. 12 Northeastern and No. 13 Cornell.
Seeded 10th, the 2V8 will race No. 3 California, No. 4 Harvard, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 15 Gonzaga and No. 16 Drexel at 8:45 a.m.
The ninth-seeded F8 will follow at 9:30 a.m. against No. 3 California, No. 4 Northeastern, No. 10 Wisconsin, No. 15 Stanford and No. 16 Gonzaga.
The unseeded varsity four will concluded the morning session against Drexel, Wisconsin, Northeastern and Georgetown at 10:30 a.m.
The Repechage races will begin at 2 p.m. for teams not earning an automatic semifinal berth in the morning.
