BOSTON - Boston University men's crew competed against  Wisconsin for the Jablonic Cup, with MIT racing as a guest, on Sunday, May 6 on the Charles River. Wisconsin finished first in the varsity 8 with a time of 5:55.3 to take the cup.

The Badgers also took an open water win from the Terriers in the second varsity 8 by nearly 23 seconds. The freshman race required four tries to complete.

Wisconsin's eight did not hear the starter and ended up half a stroke behind BU and MIT. The teams decided to re-race from the start. During the second race with 750m remaining and the Terriers in the lead, the five-seat for BU caught a crab and lost his oar. Another restart occurred at 600m but with 300m left, the Wisconsin bow man caught an over-the-head crab and brought the boat to a halt with BU again in the lead. The last re-race began with 250 m to go and BU won by a couple of seats.

Next up for the Terriers is the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 13 in Worcester, Mass.
