The men's heavyweight crew closed out its regular-season regatta schedule on Sunday by turning in its fast time of the year, but it was not good enough as the Terriers lost to Wisconsin, 5:45.8 to 5:53.2, on The Charles River.

Coupled with the defeat to Yale on Saturday, B.U closed out its season with a 1-6 record and is now off until next Sunday (May 9th) when it travels to Worcester's Lake Quinsigamond for the Eastern Sprints.

Certainly, we are not happy about losing, head coach Rodney Pratt commented after his varsity boat lost to Wisconsin. But, I am happy about how we have improved our times over the season.

We had ideal racing conditions this (Sunday) morning, pointed out the coach. But, we have had good racing conditions in the past, and we have not rowed as fast as we did today.

The problem continues to be inconsistency, as the varsity has not been able to put together a consistent 2000-meter race this year.

Against the Badgers, the Terriers got off to an excellent start and led by three seats at the 250-meter mark.

Unfortunately, over the next 250 meters, Wisconsin made a strong move and not only made up for their early three-seat deficit but passed B.U. and took a four-seat lead.

Even then, the Terriers had maintained contact with the Badgers, but it was over the next 500 meters that Wisconsin opened a full length lead that B.U. could not overcome.

By the time the race had reached the MIT boathouse, Wisconsin led by open water.

They got away from us at the third 500 point of the race, said Pratt. We are rowing better, but we are not rowing maturely enough.

B.U. also lost the second varsity and first freshman races. In the former, Wisconsin covered the 2000-meter course in 5:53.9 to 6:04.1 for the Terriers, while, in the latter, the Badgers were timed in 5:55.05 to 6:00.5 for B.U.
