Watch replay of BU vs. Northeastern
Interview with Coach Bohrer | Lineups
BOSTON - Highlighted by its first Arlett Cup victory since 2007, the Boston University men's crew earned a sweep over Northeastern Saturday morning on the Charles River. Coming off last week's Michalson Cup win over then-No. 5 Brown, the varsity eight boat posted a 7.6-second margin of victory against the Huskies.
Coxed by junior Bobby McGee and stroked by sophomore Todd Sukolsky, the Terriers gained a four-seat lead over the first 500 meters and increased it to a quarter length at the halfway mark of the 2,000-meter Charles River course. The Huskies made multiple charges, but BU stayed solid and posted a time of 6:02.0 with Northeastern finishing behind at 6:09.6.
In the same race, BU's second varsity eight boat coxed by junior Allison Pescatore and stroked by sophomore Charles Ruprecht posted a time of 6:15.4.
The freshman eight remained perfect on the season with a close 1.8-second victory over Northeastern. Coxed by Tennyson Hunt and stroked by Moritz Franz, BU held off a late charge by the Huskies in the most exciting race of the morning.
Minutes later, the second freshman eight boat coxed by Justin Rau and stroked by John Szramiak completed the sweep, posting a time of 6:19.9 with the Huskies finishing far behind at 6:41.6.
With the Arlett Cup victory, the Terriers are now 9-25 in the series and claimed just their third win since 2000.
They will look to continue their impressive start to the season with a trip to Rutgers to face the Scarlet Knights and No. 14 Dartmouth for the Bill Cup on Saturday, April 16.
