BOSTON - Previously named America East Player of the Year, Boston University men's basketball team senior Darryl Partin has received All-District honors from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), the two organizations announced on their respective websites.
The announcements mark the second consecutive year that a Terrier has been honored by both organizations after 2011 AE Player of the Year John Holland received multiple accolades last year.
The NABC's District I is comprised of teams from the America East and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Earning his first NABC honor, Partin was tabbed one of the top five players from the two conferences, joining players from Iona, Fairfield and Siena.
The USBWA's districts are regionally based, and for the first time, Partin was one of 10 players from the New England area placed on the All-District I team. He was the lone America East representative.
Partin shouldered the brunt of the Terriers' offensive load this season, scoring 19.7 points per game, which ranked second in the America East and 22nd in the country, and also accounted for 31 percent of his team's output, the highest rate of any player in the league.
Also an All-Conference First Team choice for the second straight season, Partin tallied over 20 points 15 times this year and twice earned America East Player of the Week honors (Nov. 28, Feb. 13).
A transfer from La Salle, the native of Seattle, Wash., earlier this year became the 31st Terrier to reach the 1,000-point milestone and just the sixth to score a combined 1,000+ points in his junior and senior seasons. Season highlights include Partin scoring 25 of his career-high 33 points in the second half at Albany to help BU rally from a 17-point deficit for the 81-78 victory.
