After averaging a double-double in a pair of victories last week with 10.0 points per game and 10.5 assists per game, freshman Maurice Watson Jr. has been named the GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

The 5-foot-10 point guard was key in setting up an offense that improved to No. 1 in the conference in scoring (68.2 ppg) after a 79-72 win over Maine and 79-58 victory at Binghamton. He tallied 14 points and dished out eight assists in the first contest against the Black Bears.

On Saturday facing the Bearcats, he recorded 13 assists, marking the most by a Terrier since 1990 America East Player of the Year Steven Key ('90) tallied 14 in an overtime game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 29, 1989. BU Hall of Famer Jeff Timberlake('89) tallied 15 in regulation at the end of the 1989 season.

Watson also helped on the defensive end, recording a combined five steals. He now leads the conference in assists at 5.3 apg and is trying to become the sixth-ever rookie to lead the league in the category.
