Box Score

BOSTON - Sophomore guard Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.) scored the Boston University men's basketball team's first 12 points on four consecutive 3-pointers, and BU (4-10, 1-1 America East) never trailed after that en route to an 82-72 victory over New Hampshire (4-10, 1-2 AE) on Wednesday evening in Case Gymnasium.

Lowe led all players with 30 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including six threes, to be named BU's America East Player of the Game. Sophomore guard Carlos Strong (Portland, Maine) followed with 14 points and six rebounds. Junior Max Gotzler (Weilheim, Germany) added a career-best 11 points and five rebounds, while red-shirt sophomore Tyler Morris (Indianapolis, Ind.) contributed a season-best 10 points and six rebounds.

Freshman Alvin Abreu scored a team-high 20 points to be named UNH's AE Player of the Game.

After Lowe's initial scoring explosion, Strong made his first triple of the game from 30 feet to give the Terriers a double-digit lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

"Corey started off really well," noted head coach Dennis Wolff, who earned his 250th career win with the victory. "It was contagious. Guys just started making their shots."

Tight BU defense accounted for nearly a quarter of the Terriers point total, as they scored 20 points off 17 Wildcat turnovers. Freshman John Holland (Bronx, N.Y.) and the rest of the Terriers harassed UNH from the perimeter into the lane, getting 10 takeaways and making four blocks.

The Terrier defense also forced the Wildcats into foul trouble and was particularly good at drawing UNH offensive fouls in both halves. Three Wildcats played most of the second half with four fouls, forcing UNH to play conservatively.

UNH did cut BU's lead to 12, 48-36, at 17:02 in the second half on a lay-up by Abreu, but the Terriers rebuilt the advantage to 21 with 9:46 left after a lay-in in the paint by Morris.

Next up for BU is Hartford on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in West Hartford, Conn.
