As a strength and conditioning coach at Boston University, Darcy Gould utilizes the latest training techniques to improve the size, agility, speed, conditioning, power and strength of varsity athletes.
Gould came to BU in the summer of 2004 from California State University Sacramento, where she was the head strength coach. At CSUS, Gould worked with men's and women's basketball and soccer, as well as baseball, softball, volleyball, women's rowing, women's gymnastics, cross country and track & field. In this role she worked closely with athletes, devising personalized and periodized sport-specific programs with emphases in injury prevention, rehabilitation and increases in strength and power.
Gould has also worked as a private sport specific training coach and an off-season coach with the CSUS and the San Francisco State University women's basketball programs. Along with her collegiate coaching experience she has extensive experience coaching youth basketball.
An accomplished collegiate athlete and Olympic weightlifter herself, Gould played basketball for SFSU where she was the captain from 1999-2001. She was a member of Team Sacramento Weightlifting and qualified at the American Open Tournament in 2003 for the U.S. National Tournament in 2004. As a qualifier, in 2007, she ran the 112th Boston Marathon. Gould is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a certified USA Weightlifting club coach.
Gould earned a bachelor`s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science from SFSU in 2003. She obtained a Master's of Science in kinesiology and sports performance with an emphasis in strength and conditioning at CSUS in 2005.
A native of Sacramento, Calif., Gould, formerly Darcy Kellam, currently resides with her husband in Waltham, Mass.
