Springfield College `81, `82 Mike Boyle, considered one of the nation's foremost experts in strength and conditioning, returned to Boston University in 2004-05 after spending the 2003-04 season as the director of Athletes' Performance, a world-class training program for the serious competitive athlete. Prior to his leaving for his former position in California, Boyle had served on the Terrier staff for 18 years. At BU, he had primary responsibility for designing and supervising the strength power development programs for the Terrier hockey team. Boyle was the first strength and conditioning coach at Boston University and is an NATA certified athletic trainer. He began his Terrier career as an assistant athletic trainer and, in 1983, took over as the athletic department's strength and conditioning coach. In addition to his previous duties at BU, he was the strength and conditioning director of Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning training centers for athletes from junior high school through the professional level. He also served as the strength and conditioning consultant for the Boston Bruins professional hockey team and has worked with area high school, college and professional teams and athletes. In 2004, Boyle published a book entitled Functional Training For Sports. Boyle received his bachelor's degree in 1981 and master's degree in 1982 from Springfield College. Mike and his wife, the former Cindy Garito, reside in Reading, Mass., with their daughter, Michaela and Mark. |
