Learning Specialist

Erica Bell joined Boston University Athletics in 2010 in the role of Learning Specialist.

In her position, Erica works jointly with Student Athlete Support Services and the Educational Resource Center to provide individual and group assessment, academic support services and counseling to at-risk student athletes. In addition, she develops and implements programs and services designed to provide structured assistance to academically at-risk student athletes in their current classes and provide instruction and remediation in areas of academic skill and strategy weakness. She also assists with the academic planning of student-athletes to increase retention, develop and implement learning strategies for at risk student athletes, facilitate academic services for student athletes with documented learning disabilities to provide appropriate accommodations, and monitor and report student-athlete academic progress.

Prior to her current position at BU, Erica taught special education for five years in economically and socially diverse settings. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and education from Fairfield University in 2004 and a Master's Degree in special education from the University of San Diego in 2006. She also played softball during her tenure at Fairfield University.
