Drew Marrochello, who has served as the head of the Boston University athletic department in an interim role since July, has officially been named the University's director of athletics.
It was announced to the entire athletic department by senior vice president Todd Klipp at a meeting on Tuesday.
Marrochello joined BU in 2005 as associate athletic director for internal affairs and a year later was promoted to deputy director of athletics, a position he has held for the past seven years. The Arlington, Mass., native becomes the 13th athletic director in Boston University history.
