Coming in at No. 10 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the Boston University softball team and senior standout April Setterlund, who capped off a prolific career as one of the most accomplished players in program history. The Terriers also earned a share of the America East regular season title and entered the tournament as the conference’s top seed.

Closing the curtains on a storied career in 2011, she not only holds six single-season records, but is also the all-time leader in batting average, hits, doubles, RBIs, runs and slugging percentage.

The Torrance, Calif., native, earned her second straight America East Player of the Year nod in 2011 and became the 11th player in league history to earn AE All-Conference First Team honors all four years of her career.

In 2011, she batted .434 with 59 hits, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, 44 RBIs and 43 runs. She earned a .574 on-base percentage and a .757 slugging percentage.

Her success was not limited to the diamond, however, as she was also a model student, who was named to the America East All-Academic Team with a 3.30 GPA in business administration. A three-time member of the University’s School of Management Dean’s List, she was also named to the AE Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.

There were numerous other members of the softball team who contributed to the regular season champions’ success. Head coach Shawn Rychcik, the 2011 AE Coach of the Year, guided a youthful squad that had seven newcomers in regular starting positions, including five infield spots.

Redshirt freshman Chelsea Kehr went on to earn AE Rookie of the Year honors, and freshman Holli Floetker was named the Pitcher of the Year. Setterlund and Floetker were also named to the AE All-Conference First Team. Joining Kehr on the AE All-Conference Second Team was sophomore Erin Schuppert, redshirt freshman Jayme Mask and freshmen Amy Ekart and Megan Volpano. BU also dominated the All-Rookie Team as Ekart, Floekter, Kehr, Volpano and Brittany Clendenny were selected.

BU entered the America East Softball Championship as the two-time champion and top-seeded squad. After getting past UMBC and Binghamton, the Terriers faced off with rival Albany on the final day, but fell to the Great Danes, 3-1.

With the heartbreaking loss, BU ended the season 34-18 overall record with a 14-4 conference mark. Setterlund was 18th in the nation in batting average (.434), sixth in on-base percentage (.574), 20th in walks (40) and 36th in stolen bases (27).
