The Terrier Twelve: No. 7 - Pallotta Nets Game-Winning Goal in AE Championship
June 30, 2008 Coming in at No. 7 on The Terrier Twelve is sophomore Emily Pallotta's game-winning goal in the 2008 America East Women's Soccer Championship game against New Hampshire. Pallotta's 42nd-minute strike proved to be the eventual game-winner in the title bout with the Wildcats and catapulted the Terriers into their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Pallotta received a feed from classmate Casey Brown and found the back of the net from ten yards out as the Terriers staved off a Wildcat rally to hold on for their fifth conference championship. The goal - Pallotta's fourth of the season - also sent Boston University into the NCAA tournament for the sixth time in program history with the conference's automatic bid. BU went on to fall to fourth-seeded Wake Forest, by a slim 2-1 margin in the first round; however, the squad finished another impressive year with an 11-7-3 overall record and 6-1-1 mark in the America East to go along with the regular-season crown. Pallotta, a local product out of Andover, Mass., went on to earn America East All-Conference First Team honors, as well as New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Second Team accolades for her standout season with four goals and one assist at the midfield position. For her efforts in the post-season tourney, Pallotta was named to the All-Championship team.
