This summer, GoTerriers.com is counting down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes in 2008-09, one of the greatest years ever for Terrier athletics. Check back each Monday, Wednesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.

Coming in sixth in this year's Terrier Twelve is the lacrosse team's fifth straight America East Championship, powered by the All-American exploits of senior Sarah Dalton. The Terriers ran the table in the America East for the second straight season and earned the program's seventh NCAA tournament berth. Dalton shattered records by scoring 91 goals, fifth-most in NCAA history.

The excitement began early in the season, when the Terriers traveled to Williamsburg, Va., on Feb. 28 to tangle with William & Mary and Dalton set the BU single-game record with eight goals before junior Xan Weitzel scored in double overtime to lift the Terriers to a 14-13 win.

After stumbling with three losses against nationally ranked opponents, the Terriers regrouped and reeled off a 13-game winning streak that took them all the way to the NCAA tournament. Along the way, Dalton continued to post amazing numbers as offensive records fell by the wayside. She broke BU's career goals record on March 21 against Harvard, finishing with 247 career goals, second-most among all active players in the nation. Dalton became the Terriers' all-time leading scorer on April 8 at Boston College on the way to setting a new mark of 284 career points.

BU was a perfect 6-0 in America East play, the fifth time that the team has run the table in the conference. Hosting the America East Championship, the Terriers continued to roll, posting an 18-7 win over Vermont in the semifinals and topping rival New Hampshire, 16-6, in the title game. Dalton scored a tournament-record 11 goals to earn Most Outstanding Player honors for the championship and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by senior defender Kelly Munroe, junior attacker McKinley Curro and sophomore midfielder Corcoran Downey.

Dalton finished the season with 91 goals, most in the nation and fifth-most in NCAA history. She also tied BU's record of 102 points in a season. The Cornwall, Vt., native was a unanimous selection for her second straight America East Player of the Year award and was named a first-team All-American for the second straight season.

Dalton was not alone in earning accolades for her outstanding season. Curro was tabbed as a third-team All-American and first-team All-Conference selection after tallying 71 points in a breakout junior campaign. The backbone of the Terriers' defense and a starter in every game for the past three seasons, Munroe also earned All-America honors.

Juniors Erica Baumgartner and Traci Landy were named to the All-Region team, while juniors Rachel Klein and Xan Weitzel and Downey earned All-Conference honors and freshman Hannah Frey was selected to the America East All-Rookie Team.

Head coach Liz Robertshaw was named the America East Coach of the Year after leading the Terriers to their second straight undefeated season in conference play. BU was ranked 11th in the nation in the final IWLCA coaches' poll. After three seasons at the helm of the Terriers, Robertshaw has posted a 46-13 overall record, including a 17-1 mark in conference play, and has led BU to a conference title in every season.
