The Terrier Twelve: No. 11 - Men's Ice Hockey Plays to Sellout Crowds at Fenway, MSG

Coming in at No. 11 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the men's ice hockey team's success in front of sellout crowds at two of the nation's most iconic sporting venues. BU posted a thrilling 3-2 victory over archrival Boston College at Fenway Park on Jan. 8, just six weeks after using a late rally to earn a 3-3 draw against Cornell in the second Red Hot Hockey contest at Madison Square Garden.

In the highest attended college hockey game in eastern United States history, the Terriers held off the Eagles at the home of the Boston Red Sox in front of 38,472 fans. BU, which was playing in its first outdoor game in over 50 years, jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind goals from sophomore David Warsofsky, junior Joe Pereira and freshman Wade Megan, whose second-period tally proved to be the game-winner.

The Sun Life Frozen Fenway event, which was set up by Hockey East and the participating schools, was a huge success and took place exactly one week after the Boston Bruins topped the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL Winter Classic at Fenway.

BU was no stranger to big crowds, however, having played Cornell at Madison Square Garden earlier in the season on Nov. 28 in the second edition of Red Hot Hockey. The old rivals once again teamed together to pull off another sellout of 18,200 at the World's Most Famous Arena.

BU erased a two-goal third-period deficit en route to the 3-3 draw with the Big Red. Sophomore Chris Connolly provided the game-tying tally on a power play with 51 seconds left in regulation for the Terriers, who earned a 6-3 win over the Big Red in the inaugural Red Hot Hockey event in 2007.

Junior Nick Bonino tallied the first of BU's two goals in the third period and assisted on the game-tying tally, while Warsofsky provided the Terriers' first goal of the contest.

Since 1990, the Terriers are 61-20-4 (.741) in games with an attendance of 10,000 or more.
